GlobusWORLD 2004: Call for Participation

GlobusWORLD 2004 will be held January 20-23, 2004, at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, California. The event comprises three full days of extensive and intensive training and information on Grid computing. The theme of the conference will be the Globus Toolkit, the open-source solution for Grid computing that is a key element of NPACKage and the TeraGrid.

The GlobusWORLD 2003 event in San Diego was attended by over 450 participants from more than 25 countries. Attendees included representatives from multiple industry sectors, academic institutions, and leaders in scientific research and software development. Principals of the Globus Project and NPACI Grid computing were featured presenters, and SDSC was one of the official sponsors. With an increasingly large base of application developers following the successful release of version 3.0 of the Globus Toolkit (GT3), the organizers expect even greater attendance and diversity in 2004.

In addition to keynote talks by noted leaders in research, industry, and academia, GlobusWORLD 2004 will offer a wide variety of concurrent seminars, mini-symposiums, panel discussions, and tutorials (Tuesday through Thursday, January 20 - 22). A fourth day of full-day workshops will allow in-depth discussions of selected topics (Friday, January 23).

The conference organizers are currently soliciting proposals for participation in these sessions and workshops. Submissions should center on the themes of technology and/or solutions and can include, but are not limited to the following topics.

Abstracts of 500 words or less are due by September 10, 2003. Individual presentation proposals may be submitted for individual time slots of thirty minutes, one hour, or ninety minutes in length, with ten minutes for Q&A within the allotted time. Individual presentations of less than ninety minutes will be grouped with similar topic presentations to fill an entire session.

Participants are invited to organize their own complete 90-minute sessions. These may be in the form of panel sessions or mini-symposia, with multiple presentations on a theme, or in the form of Birds-of-a-Feather or Special Interest Group sessions that allow open discussion by conference attendees.

Proposals also may be submitted for the full-day topical workshop sessions to be held on Friday, January 23. The submission must include an agenda and the names of proposed speakers.
